Post-tests are given following instruction, feedback, and remediation mandated by the pre-test and the practice exercises. The post-test confirms that the students have mastered the objectives set out for them in the action plan. Each item on a post-test matches the teacher’s prescribed action plan designed for each individual student.
Testing for Success
Success breeds success. It is counterproductive to test students when they have not mastered the content. We already know what the results will be. Therefore, Tutor Masters believes that students take summative tests only when they are confident they will be successful. This is a different approach to teaching than the one-size-fits-all style of instruction that is found in many classrooms today.
